987 window crunch

hello all

have not used the car in a while. last time was when it was icy in the morning, i tried to wind down the windows heard the noise but the window didnt move. ok fine its frozen. didn't think anything of it

today when trying to open the car window the window stays shut and all i hear is super crunching sounds.

any idea what this is? quick fix tricks?

Sounds like the window regulator is broken to me.

The mechanism is going up and down but the wire has snapped so it can’t take the window with it.

Would be surprised if it’s anything else

Expect you will need a new one fitted. I have done it myself on a boxster, not too bad.

100% it’s the regulator. Had the exact same symptoms with my 987.2, sounds like you’re crunching broken glass when pushing the window up/down switch.

Had mine fixed under warranty at the time - think it was around £200-250 value repair - that’s OPC pricing so sure it would be cheaper with an indy.

It’s defo the regulator.
