If you have a post deleted for whatever reason does it reduce your post count tally by one post?

The reason I ask is that it doesn't then appear that all posts are counted for individual posters.

I clicked on a new poster who signed up two days ago, who has a 4 post count under their name, but their posting history only shows 2 posts.

Does this mean that somebody like Eric could in fact have made 200k posts

They are. In your example the new poster will have had two posts deleted.
