Over Voltage error

I got a new error this evening and I can’t find anything in the forum about this. It is a 2007 Vantage
Over Voltage Stop Immediately in red with warning ?? and battery light.
The driving lights were flickering and then returned to normal but the error remained.
I have had several errors over the years which I have cleared with an OBD reader. New battery not long ago and kept on a trickle charge ever since and the car runs really well but this is a new one to me and appears potentially more worrying.
Has anyone come across this before?

Have you used your OBD reader to get a code and or to clear the code.
The alternator voltage regulator sounds worthy of investigation.
Over voltage conditions need to be treated seriously so even if the fault is currently not present and it allows the fault to be cleared, it would be a good idea to investigate.
When you say the lights flickered did they get dimmer or brighter than standard whilst pulsing?

Just because the fault has now vanished doesn’t mean you shouldn’t investigate further. Over charging can lead to battery failure by means of explosion. There’s obviously been a failure in the voltage regulator in your alternator, and if it’s happened once then it’s almost certain to happen again. Get your battery checked by a specialist (not Halfords or kwik fit) and you should look into alternator repair/replacement as preventative maintenance. If your car over charges and sets the wiring loom on fire, there’s not much going back from that!
