Hi guys i have just purchased a bmw f10 535d 2014 around 2 days ago now i have a problem with it the immobiliser light on the interior mirror constantly flashed when locked and when driving yes when driving hahah. Last night i tried to turn the car on and its coming up with battery discharge low in yellow then the alarm starts going off the only time it will stop is when the car is on charge. Has anyone experienced this before thanks in advance guys

I'm really no expert, but I'd be tempted to use breakdown recovery to come out & check the battery.

It's at that age that the original battery will be at the end of its life & a dodgy battery can sometimes throw up all manner of odd faults.

Bought privately or via a trader?

If the latter; take it back and get them to rectify the issue; if privately, then you need to sort it

More than likely the battery's on its last legs; get a new one (Exide 95Ah or 105Ah AGM battery via Tanya is perfect) and then you need to either register it to the car (ie if it's a like for like replacement) or code it to the car (if the. battery is different to the specs of the current one)

Any decent local battery store will do this for you; Halfords too, but cannot guarantee their quality as it's store by store...

Is the battery discharged? Or is it a healthy battery?

Sign up and ask in here: https://forum.bmw5.co.uk/forum/103-f07f10f11-2010-...

Wealth of info and you'll soon get help

But as already said; my money is on the battery being crap. Go & get a new one.

If you're really desperate, go to your local Halfords and get them to sort this & fit/register it for you:

As soon as the battery drops below 12 volts the alarm goes off. The car should shut off anything that is draining the battery when the car is parked - it's clever enough to do that - and it will show an error message "Electrical Consumers disconnected" or something like that, when you next start the car

If you're not getting error messages and the car just won't start, you may have a dead battery. New batteries have to be coded to the car

If using a charger, you are meant to charge the battery using the terminals under the bonnet so the computer knows the battery is being charged

If you have an AGM battery it should float at quite a high voltage - about 14 Volts - more than the 13.5 V of a regular lead-acid battery.

I believe the alarm sounder has its own backup battery. You'll have to get the main battery voltage > 12V to shut off the alarm
