Just taken delivery of a TEsla M3.

Has occurred to me that not that many places may be capable of repairing it except Tesla. I’ve currently insured it with Admiral, but still in cooling off period. Anyone know what my experience is likely to be if it where to get damaged and need repairing? Am I likely to run into load of issues - I note I can repair outside of their network in theory but there are loads of hurdles.

Any experiences, should I consider going somewhere else? (Not that I had a huge number of options that weren’t silly money mind!)

I don't think your insurer is going to be the issue, getting hold of parts will be should you damage the car and that's going to affect every repair option with Tesla themselves having the priority.

Sounds like not a lot I can do about that?

Just had that issue having locks replaced on the other car, 8 week wait

Yep, everything seems to be a nightmare at the minute for varying reasons but I'd suggest Tesla parts are one of the worst affected with all of their focus being to get new cars out of the door for the every growing demand.

Someone posted they had been waiting for 6 months for new doors after an accident, and had been in a Polo all that time, and no idea when the parts where coming.

Makes you wonder at what point is the car a write off as the insurer is unable to repair it.

So basically, sounds like I’m stuffed either way and don’t crash it

I think we are all in the same boat to some extent ICE or BEV. It is just that Tesla is really slow on parts vs quite slow for other manufacturers. God help you if you need a part made in Ukraine like Ford and VW looms.

Yep, totally. As I said 8 weeks for a set of locks!

Apologies, as this is a bit off topic, but you mentioned all other quotes were silly. Did you find that you either had massive quotes or a massive excess. I'm finding this to be an issue across all electric cars I get quotes on.
