Do things go wrong in runs???

Having just sorted my overheating problem with a new otter switch, my next thing to go wrong is the PAS which is now p***ing PAS fluid out from a tiny hole (perfectly circular, as though it's been drilled!) on top of the steering rack on the driver's side, just towards centre of the gaiter.
What's the best way to get this fixed?
Can this be welded closed or are we talking about a new/reconditioned rack?
Is there anywhere near Leicester apart from TMS that can do this sharpish and does anyone know prices on the above options?
Does anyone have any other suggestions?
And what's going to go wrong next?

Any help gratefully received in advance.

For the cost of about £3 it must be worth trying to patch it with a bicycle repair kit.

mines on its way out and mervyn(autotune leicester) quoted approx 500 quid this was to take it off and get it reconditioned

Thanks for the advice chaps. SparkyTC, the hole's in the metal part of the rack to the left of the driver side gaiter and diamond plate so I suspect tyre repair kit won't work! Sorry, should have been more precise in my post.
Anyhoo, mate of mine who's a mechanic has recommended a good welder so I think I'll follow this route first, as it's only a 3mm hole. Got to be better than £500 or so.
Will keep all informed in case the same bad luck befalls another PHer.

why not try some chemical metal? If they can use it on engine blocks then I'm sure it will work on a steering rack.

Are you sure the hole is new? It may be that it is venting an area which is supposed to be dry, which is getting wet due to an internal seal failure? If so the problem is the seal, not the hole. (Same principle as leaky water pumps.)

I'd concurr with GV8S that if its a neat little hole then its probably there for a reason. If by some wierd manner its a 3mm perforation I'd probably spin it out to 3.5 - 4mm to ensure it was round, check internal clearance on the inside with the back of a drillbit, then pop a shallow rivet into it as a temporary fix.
