Working on an engine harness and I'm in need of 20/22AWG automotive cable. I've used some cheap cable but it's pretty fragile - I'm looking for something more OEM spec on modern wiring looms.

I've found a few site that sells such wires but they're very limited in colour. I want to confirm to spec, so does anyone know where to purchase the following colours?

- Black
- Red
- White
- Blue
- Light Blue
- Purple

Cheers

Penelope Stopit on here recommended me a really good website for automotive wiring in all the colours you could want.

Can I remember it? Not currently... It's in my readers cars thread somewhere, I'll try and dig it up

I've used ALM solutions for thinwall cable. They carry a good range of colours, especially in the thinner sized gauges. I've no connection with them other than as a previous customer.

I ended up going with AES in the end and ordering the light blue in a 100m reel from another supplier.

Seems like most suppliers are allergic to supplying light blue!

Thanks for all the recommendations.

Ok then

This sleeving is good if cable is close to very hot parts

Thankfully it's mostly behind heatshielding apart from where I'm splicing into the ECU, but that isn't near anything that's too hot. I do use something similar for my coolant lines though.

Ok

Purely out of interest, what are you wiring?

IS Rayfast

Distribute TE Connectivity wire and cable. They will have something exotic you can buy that is thin wall, heat and chemical resistant. Havn't looked for a while to see if they sell low qty of the automotive wire.

Boost and fuel controller for an aftermarket port injection implementation with a turbo kit I've had fabricated.

The controller splices into the crankshaft, camshaft, and map sensors.

TE is what I was originally trying to get my hands on, I wasn't aware of this supplier. I'll keep my eye on them for future projects.

The TE automotive wire part numbers start with ACW. I believe the conductor size is in cross sectional area rather than American wire gauge. There should be a datasheet that explains the part number. One of the numbers represents colour.

(I used to work in the factory but it was 15 years ago now so my memory is a bit hazy) it's radiation crosslinked PVDF over a PE core which gives it the mechanical properties and chemical resistance with a thin wall.

The really good stuff is PTFE insulation.
