Since my project boat is delayed and my boy is 6 and I want to go boating this year I bought a Mitchell 31.

Christ no.

I'm having a little break from wooden boats.

I rather agree; GRP is boring but works well.

I wonder how much Michael Dennett charges to restore a DLS...? He has a heck of a business there.

Sabre M215c, does 17 knots flat out, 12 knots at 2000rpm. So even punching a spring ebb its ok progress.

Earlier ones with NA Ford or 6.354 too slow.

Nice looking boat that, what kind of boating are you planning? Fishing trips? Cruising?

I had sporty open boats for many years, but I'm a wheel house convert now.

Easy. Needles to Alderney is 55 miles I think, so probly a comforrable 5 hr run from Yarmouth if I take ebb tide with me out through Hurst. Loadsa short hops from there.

Yarmouth to Dartmouth is 85 miles, if I do 12 through the water and 2 knots of tide thats 14 over the ground, so 6 hours, timed tight its just about doable without punching tide. Have to leave 1hr before hw Portsmouth. Springs best. I guess neaps might have to punch a little tide, but not much.

Probably my wife and son will take the car and I'll take the boat and meet them.
