after a long time away am looking at getting an old boxster, am considering these two as they are near me, similar money but will there be anything significantly different in spec between the two?

Looking at both I can't see any significant difference in them, I would probably go to the one at Strasse first because I have been there before to look at a Boxster for sale, unfortunately the one I wanted was already sold and my fault for not calling first but the stock they did have looked very presentable in general and the guy I spoke to was very decent.
I have no experience of the other dealer so can't comment on them.

My 986 S had an impeccable history and all the right bits done to it (rms, ims, clutch, etc).
It cost me £3k in maintenance over 3 years and 3k miles. And that included me doing quite a lot myself. Partly due to lack of use on my part. Partly just their nature.
They are a lovely thing and i do miss mine now that it's gone. I don't miss the feeling of waiting for another thing to go wrong the next time i use it.

Get a gen2, 2.9 manual or PDK. It would still cost a lot to maintain but no more engine worries at least.
Those do seem expensive for the model, although I would expect the Strasse one to be better as they are well-renowned specialists. I have taken my Boxster there for work as I live just outside Leeds, their work is top rate.
I have a 2005 2.7, although mine is a tiptronic and has done 139,000 miles, the price reflected these. From looking at the list of features on the above car the only thing I miss off mine is heated seats. Some reckon you need nav but it will be 15 years old and outdated, mine doesn't have it and I use my phone for nav,

I do agree with the poster above re the Sat Nav. I dont see any point either at this stage as it will be so outdated. Don't have it in mine and I don't miss it. I use my phone.
Friend of mine bought a 2005 987 S years ago and I went with them to pick it up from the OPC. As we went to leave they went to put the postcode into the Sat Nav and it didn't allow post code searching so they ended up borrowing my £100 Tom Tom.......Joey Deacon said:
