Hi, just saw some twitter chatter about a plane crash at the old closed Upper Heyford airbase?
Someone parachuted out, apparently, suggesting it’s military?

When I was at Uni in Oxford I used to go down to Heyford loads, always lots going on, and like a little bit of the USA back in them days.

Hope everyone is ok?

Sounding more like it may be an aerobatic plane crashed into a new build apartment building on the new housing developments there.
A reg is being mentioned but I’ll not post it.

Hope pilot and all on the ground are ok.

Indeed. Hopefully the reports that nobody on the ground was injured are correct, and given that it is a 2 seater, very much hoping that there was only one aboard and that the pilot makes a full recovery from the injuries apparently sustained after baling out.

Bugger me, I work on the base, seems it was an empty block, pilot injured but OK, nothing flies there, will be from Kidlington likely

The partial reg shown on the wreckage and data from FR24 indicates it likely being a plane that was based at Bicester.

BBC article; “ "I looked up and literally saw this guy leap out of this plane and thought, that's an odd place to be parachuting," she said..”

Oh bloody hell Trevor Jakob is back!!

Yep there are lots of small airfields nearby and we often get smaller level aerobatic teams over the base practicing, indeed my CeO and me spent about 10 minutes watching one the other week when the weather was nice, brings it home though a few of our management team use the small company plane we bought, and you shudder to think what happens!

but maybe this was self inflicted who knows, glad also the flats were empty, sadly the entire place now is one giant hideous building site. And the people who own it all don't give a toss about anything BUT building, so the roads etc are awful, the base entrance is after the village so all traffic passes two schools every rush hour to get into the base (car transporters building vehicles, endless couriers etc), it is crazy, especially when they could spend a few quid and open an entrance nearer the M40 which would mean all this stuff could join the base before the village, but hey why spend that when you make millions a month selling yet more bloody houses. Until someone gets hurts of course.

it is also why my company is leaving the area soon as these people will not let you do anything, unless you want to buy a house lol!
