Don't use poison, it's deeply unpleasant and you'll find some will never touch it anyway.

Use a simple snap trap with actual edible bait that won't posion everything else in the food chain or leave the rodents slowly dying and stinking under your floor boards

Get a cat or two. Mine are always bringing me half eaten mouse carcasses biglaugh

Agreed though, poison is a nasty way for them to go.

Also work on removing whatever it is that is attracting them. My neighbour spend years putting down traps and dealing with the dead bodies. They stopped visiting when he simply removed the unsealed bird food from his garage.

There a various different types/chemicals, they all work differently. E.g. some are super-toxic to cats, some are not. There isn't really a "single best poison".

Ideally use traps, otherwise read the labels very carefully.

So. I don't want to use traps. The rats eat as much as I put down to the point that I just refer to it as 'rat food'. Is there any available to the public that works?
