I bought an E86 Z4 Coupe a month ago with the 3.0si engine and it looks like the MAF sensor has packed up.

A code reader came up with an error code indicating the sensor so I swapped it over with one from a friend's car and it went back o running how it should so I am positive that's the issue.

Anyway the sensors vary wildly in price. I'm ignoring the cheap ones on Ebay and really want an OEM one.

Does anyone have experience of these ones from Eurocarparts? Hella have been around a long time but the picture shows one that is branded as Continental.

The originals are Siemens VDO.

I'm going to call BMW and get a price from them as well.

Thanks.

Definitely get an OE brand one, these cars are particularly sensitive to sensors like MAFs.

Unfortunately you will pay for it!

I would seriously consider a known good spare from a known reputable seller like Quarry Motors.

Just stick with BMW and get a quote from Cotswolds BMW and mention you're a forum member

Stay away from ECP for stuff like this; not to be trusted

Where from and how much? Always helpful to out this so others can see etc smile

Have you also checked all of the intake boot sections to ensure there are no issues with extra air getting in after the MAF etc?

Only ever use Bosch and Siemens MAF's. Anything else - including 'good brands' like Bremi - is junk.

https://www.bmpartsstore.com (Run by a very nice chap called Sam)

Everything else looked fine on the car and the fact that I swapped the MAF over with another and all was fine makes me fairly confident that it is actually the MAF and not something else.

Bremi is OE quality and currently £57 at autodoc mobile app, with their daily discount of 38%

Unfortunately everyone I know that's used a Bremi MAF have had issues; gone back to OEM BMW and zero issues

They may be OE but they're not good enough it seems...

Could be that some are lucky and they work fine; just one of those things

I'm paying £165 for a Siemens VDO UNIT so happy with that.

Local dealer wanted £294 and Cotswold were around £260

All sorted, MAF sensor picked up and installed tonight and the car is back to normal and both me and my wife think it sounds quieter too.

I really must also recommend https://www.bmpartsstore.com

Sam uses Paypal for payment so when I collected the MAF sensor today we had a good chat and when it came to pay he just sent me a Paypal invoice after I had left with the part. I must have an honest face!

They are not OE.

And they don't work.
