Had a proper look at the car tonight and my problem is definitely the engine mounts. The rubber on both has detatched from the metal plates and the engine has twisted, sliding down against the right hand mount and up from the left hand one.

Am I right in thinking the mounts are standard Capri ones? Should I be able to get them from any autofactor/halfords? I'm desperately hoping to get a pair by Saturday so don't want to rely on mail order.

Unlikely that halfrauds or autofactor would have them. I would try Ford as they can normally get hold of things over a couple of days, plus if a friendly dealer may well look at the slides and see if you can identify bit of rubber.

I've found my local ford dealership to be friendly and fast.

I might have a pair of something suitable; we often use that kind of Metalastik mount at work. If I recall I used a pair on my Tasmin years back so may have some more.
Failing that they are used as anti-vibration mounts on machinery; if you have an engineers' suppliers nearby they may keep similar items...

I had to replace my engine mounts recently while doing the gearbox swop. One side does tend to suffer more than the other. My local Ford dealer told me thay are no longer listed. Try some of the Granada or Capri specialists that advertise in "Classic Ford" mag. Prices about £7.00 each

Thank guys.

I'll try my local Ford dealer this morning and see what they say.

I came across this site.

I'll give them a ring and see if they can do next day delivery.

RT racing stock them.
I had one fitted to the 280 earlier this year.

I rang a couple of Ford dealerships, but they couldn't help. Though one did say that no Granada ever had a round mount (listed on the linked site as Capri/Granada). He gave me a number for a local Capri secialist.

I rang the site I linked, South Wales Props. They have them in stock and have sent 2 out. £15 including delivery. They say they'll be here tomorrow.

Fingers crossed...
