Calories on menus
Discussion
Not a bad thing but personally I only eat out when I want to eat something worthwhile so it makes no difference how much fatter it will make me. Plus I tend to eat in smaller independent places so not likely to even be a feature on their menus.

I find no issue with it
it's important to be able to make informed decisions, and many cases, you may think the side salad you are ordering is healthy but it may come with a dressing with has 400 kcal alone.
I do find it nice when I can see calories, last time was when I went for Breakfast with my Son and I looked in the menu to find that the "Big breakfast" (which was just your typical 2x sausage , 2x bacon and associated items) had 3600 calories in it !!!!
With that in mind I went for some eggs on toast instead...

Pointless legislation again.
I reckon we all already know an 8 oz burger has more calories than a bowl of bulgar wheat salad.
Not necessarily, I suspect people will be surprised to see that the 'healthy' salads that come covered in dressing/sauce have the same calories as a 'bad for you' burger.I reckon we all already know an 8 oz burger has more calories than a bowl of bulgar wheat salad.
Its utter tosh. As I sit here writing watching multiple Deliveroo / Uber drivers in their sport casual clothing carting out MaccyDs from 100 yards down the road to be delivered within approx 1.5 miles of the originator in their s
tty german diesel cars clogging up the town does anyone really think the type of person eating that rubbish and having it delivered at 10.25 is going to care about calories on the menu ? Give it another hour and a half and Dominos over the road opens. One of their drivers certainly needs to look at menus , bloke must be all of 25stone, as he makes his way back on forth with insulated bags ready to deliver an afternoon fix of mediocrity to lazy people. Yep calories on the menu is the solution.

Agree, to the people it's actually aimed at, fat and unhealthy, it won't make a jot of difference.

Yep calories on the menu is the solution. We eat out/get a takeaway once a month generally at the most, I know what's good and bad and generally I'll go for bad, it doesn't matter though to me as I eat healthily at home 99% of the time.

I find 3600 hard to believe to be honest - eg Wetherspoons -it's important to be able to make informed decisions, and many cases, you may think the side salad you are ordering is healthy but it may come with a dressing with has 400 kcal alone.

"The pub chain publishes the calorie counts of all its meals on their menu – and the full English is a massive 1515 calories.
That’s without the black pudding – which will add another 246 calories.
The popular breakfast consists of two fried eggs, bacon, two sausages, three hash browns, mushroom, tomato and two slices of toast."

Big Plate Special £5.49
2 pork sausages, 3 rashers of back bacon,
2 fried free-range eggs, baked beans,
3 hash browns,
half a grilled tomato
and mushrooms.
Served with
toast and butter
Not hard to believe to be honest.

I have a massive issue with it.
As has already been mentioned - fat people won't take any notice.
However, people with an eating disorder will definitely take notice and it could quite easily trigger a relapse.
Poorly thought through.

Well that's clearly incorrect isn't it, a 4,000 calorie fried breakfast looks like this. it's important to be able to make informed decisions, and many cases, you may think the side salad you are ordering is healthy but it may come with a dressing with has 400 kcal alone.

So if calories on menus educate people a little that must be a good thing as demonstrated above.
