DHL Boeing returning to Costa Rica after hydraulic failure turned 180 degrees and split in half....bet that was a wild ride for the crew! Both crew out OK.

There was quite a bit of runway left according to the report on AV Herald. Wonder why it veered off and turned round?

Looks like the undercarriage was locked and may have caused a pull to the right. All that smoke coming from the gear must have been part of it, it looks like he goes full left rudder almost as soon as he lands so there seems to be something yanking him right.

Lost all it's hydraulics on the left side, no brakes, spoilers, flaps, reversers so inevitable that it wasn't going to stop in a normal way.

Hydraulic(s) failure on take off apparently. Only half the plane responding to inputs.

Looked like it was coming in hot too.

Very lucky no fire.

I think all in all that was a really lucky escape.

Shame it dropped into that pit (SUDs?) otherwise the tail section would have survived. And what’s this about split “in half”. It’s clearly spilt ~ 46/50
