Miserable TVR Owner....
Discussion
I would normally put this in the spotted forum, but this really riled me i wanted to share it.
The missus and I were pulling into a fairly well known restaurant chains car park last night, Frenchay - Bristol (ok, have you ever been to a harvester before? :paperbag: ) And just pulling in in front of me was a rather nice black Tamora (EX02***) Now i made a special effort to make eye contact with this chap smiling and putting my thumb up, we passed each other trying to find a parking space and whilst smiling and looking straight into this chaps eyes, he totally blanked me, which sent my blood pressure up. anyway there were no spaces in the front Car park, so i duly followed him into the rear car park, we parked up, and got out the car and walked into the restaurant. He walked two feet in front of me and still blanked me, the missus and i were looking at each other in disbelief, when this guys mate said...' so can you still get that model (in reference to my chim) then the driver replied ' no thats just an old one'
I then stood behind this chap in the queue and he still ignored me. The waiting time for a table was too long
so we left and got a table at the other harvester in Cribbs causeway.
Now i reckon, no PHer would ever ignore a fellow PHer, come to that maybe i expect too much from fellow marque enthusiasts... Hand built british sports cars that are pretty exclusive... Which i concluded this guy was not, after all he looked like a fat unshaven Dane Bowers wearing Track shorts and a Nike top.
Im guessing this guy isnt a member of the PH community, but if he is.... SHAME ON YOU SIR! :rage:

He could just be an ignorant tw*t with 0 social skills, there' plenty of them about! Thankfully the majority of TVR owners you meet are enthusiasts who don't look down their noses at older models.
If someone dont want to talk to a complete stranger then he is well within his rights not to. If someone dont acknowledge you on the roads, again, he is well within his rights not to.
Get over it. To some people, the car is just a car and many owners dont buy into the 'exclusive' club banter.
To top it off, you take some mighty risks trying to befriend a complete stranger just because he's driving a tivver, for all you know, he could be one of the chiswick drug barons and is under surveilence and now you're in the shot too!

EX is an Essex registered car.
Maybe that is your answer - would certainly explain the tracksuit bottoms
Ere I is an Essex TVR driver.. A Chim at that..and there are no Tracksuit bottoms in my car. And no burberry cap either. (Well that would fly off with the roof down
) Us Essex TVR people are the politest by far m'lord!
cheers,
Nick
I've actually seen the reverse as well... a Tamora owner (I was the passenger) pull into a car park with a group of Griff / Chim's.. we got out said hello, and basically got blanked... "it's one of those funny new ones" ... "not a proper TVR as it's not a V8"... etc etc.
Worst thing was it was actually a TVRCC club meet...

Should that be if someone 'doesnt' want to talk to a complete stranger?
I for one don't think that TVR owners are complete strangers to each other. The Marque provides a special enthusiast bond which I love as you don' get that from any other vehicle. Think it's a good thing that people acknowledge each other in a friendly way as opposed to the all too familiar two fingered salute (often seen in Essex!)

It's a shame about that isn't it... I think the problem with the Tamora-tosser is that he hasn't discovered PistonHeads.. he's got a top car, but nobody to share the excitement and join convoys with
Dave.

Can we desist with the Essex Bashing chaps!! or i may be forced to show a new 'enthusiast bond' with one or two of my fellow PH'ers!

Dave.
I disagree, I think the problem with the Tamora-tosser is that he's bought a sports car thats flash, different and will get him noticed.
He obviously has no interest in the mark and in that respect is the same as any Boxster, Z4 owner on the roads. He'll probably panic and sell up as soon as something goes wrong!

I think part of the reason many of us like TVR's is that they are flash, different and we get noticed!
Oh and the fact they are the nutz to drive helps too

Totally agree with you, they're well within their rights to...
But it doesn't hurt to acknowledge them with a little eye contact, wave or a brief nod of the head (there's no need to start a conversation or try to befriend them
) - makes all the difference IMO.

You should always carry a short wooden or metal pole in the boot to deal with such people
s that drive TVRs. Met one guy once who although seemd to be an enthusiast, bragged about how he raced people frequently on the motorway up to really silly speeds, and that he went out with the sole aim to do this.
