any advice appreciated-purchased a car remotely and it has several issues nothing serious but dealer is not keen on correcting them.

does any one know the legal situation regarding returning the vehicle. some articles say you can return after 14days, some say after 30days, with full refund and dealer having to arrange pick up and reimburse your delivery costs.

cheers

You have 14 days from the date of delivery to notify the dealer that you wish to cancel the sale. You don't have to give a reason. Note that if they haven't followed the distance selling processes properly then you have up to a year to do this.

You then have a further 14 days after the date of notification to return the car to the dealer. Once they have received it, they should refund within another14 days.

They are entitled to make a wear and tear deduction for mileage covered.

The 30 day limit is a separate piece of consumer legislation where a car is not fit for purpose or is mis-described - the distance selling regulations are much simpler for a customer to use as they are set in stone.

thank you, appreciate that answer.

I have had the car 3 weeks -it has been at a main dealer for almost 2weeks of that time getting looked at.

It’s been at a different dealer from the one you purchased the car from?

hi

purchased from independent but vehicle has manufacturers approved used warranty.

After delivery- one day- a fault arose necessitating a visit to the main dealer who will rectify the fault under warranty , however several other faults have arose which are not covered under warranty-corrosion and door seals failing, also the car does not have the warranty it was described as having ie 3mths rather than 15 months remaining. Just wondering what my position is. thanks in advance

Give the dealer a call & talk to them as you're outside the 14 days but you may well find that you can work a suitable deal out, I'm assuming you haven't put many miles on the clock?

Expect to have to pay for shipping it back to them.

I am hopeful of an amicable solution, but need to know my position in case matters head south.

I think it may be covered by the distance selling regs as I have not been informed of these by the dealer, in which case a return would be easier i presume?

if the car where to be returned, which party would be liable for the delivery costs to my home and the return costs back to the dealer?

interesting to know the differences between direct sales and distance sales
