Getting B+E on the photo card
Discussion
I am going to be towing a trailer through France with a tow vehicle and trailer combination with MAM over 3.5T.
I only got B+E when the law changed in December, never did the test.
I think it would be sensible to have the photo card updated to show the B+E in case I get pulled by the gendarmerie.
My licence is not up for renewal for 8 years and I don’t need to change address.
Tried contacting the DVLA to ask but just got a pasted response “next time you interact with the DVLA it will be updated”.
My question is - has anyone paid the £20 to replace a “lost” licence, and did that result in your new photo card having B+E on it?

I updated the address on my brothers driving licence (who has never done BE) one or two days after the law had changed.
His came back with BE on the photocard, valid from the date the law changed, but his online DVLA profile still shows BE as provisional.
I got BE in 2019, obviously my DVLA profile shows the "full" entitlement on my profile.
I imagine updating the driver profile is one of those things that is low down the list of priorities for the DVLA.

I've just updated the address on my licence, I'm hoping it'll be added to my new one when it comes. I'll try to remember to let you know, as I would expect it to be updated if you got a replacement in that case. Bit annoying as I need to renew my photo next year.
My new one just arrived, with BE from 16.12.21, as hoped. Cyberprog said:
I changed my name, and photo, and had to wait ~2 months or more for it to come back. No mention of B+E.
There is no rhyme or reason to their delays. I posted a complicated (returned) application for a new licence on the 1st of March and received it back on the 10th! To make this even more surprising, it was sent to the vocational licence department who supposedly have the longest delays.MustangGT said:
I was under the impression that the NI 'agency' has ceased to exist and it all comes under Swansea?
I'm not entirely sure what the situation is, I was sending paperwork to to Swansea dvla, but licence said to send it to DVA Coleraine (same address that used to be DVLANI) so I did. Maybe the vehicle registrations are dealt with in Swansea but licensing has been retained in NI. Our licence is subtley different.Gassing Station | Speed, Plod & the Law | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
