Keeping insects out with door open
Discussion
As we're getting to the time of year where temperatures are rising, we are now thinking about options where we can have the patio door open and keep the insects out.
We have a living room that only has doors, no windows.

I've looked on amazon it seems mainly the options are some kind of netting, or stickers (mixed reviews) that attract the insects.
Already got an exterminator tennis racket, fun, but a pain after a while, and I'm a crap aim
so I'd rather just stop them getting in, in the first place.
Would like to hear from anyone with experience

Timely thread....we have bi fold doors we like to fling open on hot days/evenings but also back onto a field and padocks. We had resinged iurselves that flies coming in was quite simply unavoidable. But may try some netting, I will have a google as i presume some ready made stuff exists with magnets etc.
We ordered one of these on the recommendation of our neighbour, and given the cost thought we’d at least try it. Glad to say it worked really well. We had a white version on our white UPVC French doors.

Other than that, my parents use an insectorcutor (like you used to see in restaurants in the 80s) and that works, but obviously doesn’t stop the insects coming indoors.

We put in a hinged fly screen door with magnetic closure from Streme Screen Solutions on the kitchen door 7 years ago. It has been very effective, and is still working ok. They appear to still be around and have a range of options.
Having said that, coincidentally, we are having air con installed tomorrow, so probably won't need it so much going forward!

We’ve got bifolds backing onto paddocks too, and flies were getting in constantly. Tried one of those mesh kits at first but it didn’t last. Switched to a proper hinged screen from Premier Screens. Made to measure, magnetic close, fits tight. It’s been solid, especially on windy days when the velcro ones just give up. Doesn’t look half bad either.
