Hi guys, managed to remove the P.A.S steering rack at the weekend.

This would have been pretty straight forward but i had to remove the copper pipes to get the rack out.

Unfortunately one of the nuts was beginning to round so i thought it best to cut the pipe get it out and on the bench.

I have now managed to remove the nut but i need a new copper pipe, [the long one] or has anyone used flexible hoses, or has any other ideas as an alternative.

The steering rack was fine with no slop or play, just an annoying leak from the oil seal on the output shaft for the steering column UJ.

Anyone managed to change this. I have removed the circlip, and the very thin [what looks like a shim washer]

Is it now just a case of trying to get the old seal out and new one in ?

Yes to seal removal.
The seal is brown if my memory serves me correct.
It’s sprung on both inside and outside dia so important to use the correct one which my local engineering place sourced for me or indeed had one in stock I seem to remember.
And yes you can use flexi hoses if you get them made up with the correct ends. Tell your local hydraulic centre what the pipes will be used for.

I managed to change the seal with the rack in place. Hopefully the link below works to a previous thread.

Hi I have a brand new seal set half price. As I bought it from Racing Green Parts to install myself but in the end sent my rack to Kiley Clinton for a full refurb.

Part Number: TVR TPL 103

Pm for details.
