V8 Vantage Tyre Query

Good evening all,
Looking for some advice for replacement tyres for my 4.7 2010 V8 Vantage. I'm working through a few things to get it prepped for whenever the sun finally comes out. I have replaced all 4 brake discs and pads, along with handbrake pads. Lots of cleaning in the wheel arches and a good dressing too. Everything starting to look very good and enjoying working on the little jobs! My alloy's are being dropped off for a refurb later this week (very minimal cosmetic marks but I want them immaculate).
I am going to have new tyres put on at the same time to replace the Bridgestone Potenza's. After lots of reading it seems like Michelin Pilot Sport 4S's are a good choice. However I am unsure on the exact specs I should be going for.
The alloys are original 19" Sportspacks that came on the car. Current Bridgestones are 235/40/19 96Y & 275/35/19 96Y.
I can only find the MPS4S fronts in 235/40/19 96Y XL or 235/40/19 96Y XL NAO, and rears in 275/35/19 96Y or 275/35/19 100Y XL
Should I be mixing 96/100 and XL/non-XL load ratings?

As I see it, you should be fine with XL's on both axles.
I seem to remember the front/rear load numbers have always been different with staggered tires.
I think the load rating depends on the width of the tire - so should be normal to have the rears with a higher number.
Could be wrong, though...

The 235/40/19 96Y XL NAO is a specific Porsche tyre. Don´t buy this one.
You will need XL tyres.
The best tyres for the Vantage currently available are these: Continental SportContact 7
The 245 and 285 sizes are permitted on the original 19" alloys in the sizes 8.5J (front) and 9.5J (rear).
Michelin Pilot Sport 4S will soon be replaced by the new 5S version. Therefore I would not buy the 4S.
If you prefer the smaller original sizes: Bridgestone Potenza Sport (The new version! Not the outdated Aston Martin specific RE050!)

Whilst the new Bridgestones have received good reviews, particularly with regards to grip and feel, I think they still suffer from a poor ride quality compared to others, so that would need to be considered. I have no personal experience of them but this info is from the excellent "Tyre Reviews" videos that I would highly recommend. Nothing wrong with the PS4s, great rubber.
Ps5 have just been launched in recent months but the chat is that the 5s won’t be with us for some time yet and will likely be a fair whack of money above the 4s which is already more than good enough for the vantage.
No idea about the conti’s but have heard good things about them

Totally agree with this. I've driven my Vantage S for many miles on OEM Bridgestones, P Zero Corsas and PS4S. The PS4S is by far the best all round tyre of these four. Ask me what PS Cup 2 are like on a Vantage S in 6 months time ........

actually, these tyres test are the opposite of subjective... some might say objective in fact! hence the testing with data results. they don't tell you which one feels the best in wet braking, they tell you which one performs the best objectively, under as close to identical conditions as one can realistically get. And objectively, the new Conti's blow all current tyres out of the water. Now whether subjectively one prefers others tyres is a different matter.I can’t get on with Pirelli race tyres, fronts especially but some people love them. Good time to replace the TPMS sensors with the Autel ones whilst you’re having the wheels re-done. The fewer times you have the tyres on and off the better.
You can sell the old original Smartire sensors on eBay and Autel ones are £31ish.

I would not buy the PS 4s ???? If you need tyres now these are arguably the best for the Aston. From what I understand the PS5 is due. Not heard yet when the PS5s will be released. The PS4s hasn’t suddenly become a crap tyre just because newer ones are comingYou will need XL tyres.

I've decided to go with the PS4S's. I tried to find Sport Contact 7's, but everywhere I searched was out of stock. I will go for the XL's on both axles as recommended.
Thanks for pointing out the TPMS replacement JonnyCJ. The plan was to get these done with the refurbishment. However after a bit of reading I think I will just have the module deleted when it's in for it's next service. I don't think I'll really miss the feature, and also won't have to worry about one failing down the line.
A couple more cosmetic bits to sort - including sorting the paint on the wing mirror arms. Then my OCD should be at rest and I can enjoy some summer time out in the car!

As for the TPMS... I went down that road and documented everything; if you have the most recent Huf/Beru system (the one that shows the little car on the display with the corner readings) it's very easy and the system recognise the new Autel sensors automatically.
If you have the old Smartire one, it's a bit more complicated but feasible.
