This might be a random Q - is it usual on serp cars for non-pas cars to retain the pas pump?

As mine is non-pas and has what I think is the pump, unless it’s just a pulley.

It’s just a pulley, I think it’s actually a gutted out pump but may be wrong.

I spotted this on a mates Griff, non pas with a pump. A more detailed look revealed a pump shell. It was there to create the required run length of the serpentine belt

If I wanted to save weight, and clean up the engine bay (easing access to distributor for example), would it be possible to delete this and simply route a shorter belt round crank, water pump, alternator, alt pulley? Would there be any downsides to this I wonder?

With the John Eales Engineering alternator bracket its easy enough

Water pump would be going the wrong way

I've seen these before and been concerned about the lack of wrap on the water pump pulley. Had any issues at all?

Not an issue with a serp belt style system, just to add that's not my pic above belongs to Phazed
