2nd hand footballer's cars

Is there an extremely niche market for these amongst the moneyed fans? That's to say, if a footballer were to get rid of a car, would the fact that their name is on the V5C add a premium to the value of the car? Or would the car's value be whatever motorway say it is?
I remember seeing some woman on the telly from Doncaster who got rich very quickly with some weight watcher product she marketed over facebook and she couldn't stop going on about how her range rover used to belong to Kylie Minogue, even showing the V5C to the camera.

I am given to understand that a lot of the footballers cars are on lease.
The company I worked for had a specialist lease arm and I can remember someone telling me the state of one Lambo (IIRC) that had been returned. And it wasn’t pristine either…… some dubious stains along with many other issues.

Not suprising, I think most of them don't have a clue about cars other than how flashy they can look. I recall a story many years ago about Ronaldo when he joined Manchester United the first time he turned up to training one day with a flat tyre on his car and was quite prepared to write the car off, and buy another, not realising a tyre can be changed.
Top sports people are often loaned cars by manufacturers as "product placement"
Certainly a previous international captain was provided with two Jaguars - one for him one for his wife
Otherwise many are leased and sometimes the club is the leaseholder as part of the contract. Even club CEOs often get club funded lease cars
And in years gone by ive known footballers houses to be bought by the club as part of contract negotiations
If you are paying £50 million for a player and then £200,000 per week in wages. and bonuses on top the cost of a lease car or house is peanuts

This is a car forum and a lot of people on here know little about cars or driving standards.
Even if this was a thing, unless the car is owned by a mega football star such as Messi, Ronaldo, Mbappe etc, I can't think it would change the price much. It's not like anyone is going to be thrilled or overpaying to have Thiago Alcantara's electric MG SV that I get about 52 adverts a day for on Facebook, is it?
Yes, I'd have expected that most footballer's cars were leased, however we know one and he bought his car. May well be moving on soon and someone is pestering him to sell him the car when he leaves. From the posts, I now think that this is a case of the car isn't that important to a player and so the dealer can offer a cheaper price "just to take it off his hands".

My neighbour's a pro footballer and likes his cars. I don't think he's 'famous enough' to get freebies but in the time he's been next door he's had a couple of nice Mercs and last weekend there was a very tidy 21-plate RS5 in his parking space. It's nice having his parked adjacent as he won't do silly things like opening his door into the side of mine...
He's a good bloke and seems to have his head screwed on properly; bought his property at 20 (he's 22 now), keeps his head down and no wild parties etc!

All of the local cars coming and going into AFCB seem to be illegally tinted GL63/Range Rovers
A friend bought a Merc C63 C204 that was a Swansea footballer's car. The seller (trader) did advertise this but it made no difference to the price of the car come buying or selling it. It actually still had the football player's private plate on it, nothing valuable, but had his initials. Was NJT I think, can't remember the player.

My parents recently bought a 2nd hand Cayenne turbo that was previously owned by a footballer, Porsche wouldn't say who but the car was originally sold in Hatfield so maybe that narrows it down. It didn't make a blind bit of difference to the price or purchasing experience.
Credit where credit's due, the guy obviously has good taste in cars, it's specced beautifully - only thing I'd have done different is a de-badge so for all anyone else knows it could be a bog standard one. Having said that the ceramic brakes do give it away a bit

That reminded me of a visit to our swimming club sometime in the mid 90's by James Hickman. I remember being awed by his Mitsubishi 3000 GT with personalised plate FLY 1 (or very similar).
He said Mitsubishi gave it to him.
Looking back he couldn't have been more than 20, not doing badly for a swimmer.

I used to work for the logistics firm that sponsored Man U a few years back, we would often have corporate days there and go to Carrington, I remember one of the hosts saying lots of the player (especially youth and international) basically have a Man U concierge service that does everything to do with house cars etc (cars were provided by Chevy at the time if they wanted one) so they get home and a light bulb doesn't come on they ring man u and they send Trevor out to fix it!
