12 to 18 month delivery...
Discussion
Just been into VW as I'm looking at leasing an e-UP for the business. I get told a minimum of 12 to 18 months before I could have one, even on a lease. The ID3 and 4 are the same. I'd previously been in Citroen and they're quoting similar numbers. Yet if you go to Nissan or an online leasing company you can get something in 24 - 48 hours.
VW merrily explained the tale of woe, i.e. war in Ukraine causing delays, global semi conductor shortage, etc. however when I asked if it wasn't just that VW had many ICE's on their lot that needed selling so they're deliberately slowing EV sales the salesman said with a wry smile that I was being cynical.
Can't help but think its just the big boys having to shift stock knowing they underestimated the demand for EVs.

I would like to see you get something in 24-48 hours!!! I am in the automotive business and its every manufacturer. Dont believe websites and particularly broker sites they are just trying to draw you in. EV's are taking over but even if by some magic there were any ICE vehicles in stock they wouldnt be around for long. Its frustrating I know and seems to be one thing after another, now we have the Shanghai lockdown and this will have a knock on effect and further delays for many manufacturers.VW merrily explained the tale of woe, i.e. war in Ukraine causing delays, global semi conductor shortage, etc. however when I asked if it wasn't just that VW had many ICE's on their lot that needed selling so they're deliberately slowing EV sales the salesman said with a wry smile that I was being cynical.

Tesla is the fastest at the moment but even then most of the deliveries are out to the back end of this year and early next. The current issues in Shanghai are going to cause more delays.
I believe Tesla have been gazumping many other manufacturers by paying over the odds on the shipping costs so that might explain why?? Been an issue for months. We ordered an Enyaq towards the end of December and even then it was 52-56 week lead time. That will have increased. I think it’s probably still 52 weeks away
Tesla are saying on their website if I order a Model Y today it should deliver in July. Some man-maths had occurred and I’m test driving one tomorrow. If it’s good enough may well stomach the 50% increase in cost and order
It’s got worse since yesterday! Choosing the more sensible 19” wheels no makes it September!

Tesla delivery estimates are not particularly accurate. My brother's Model 3 LR came 3 months before the initial estimate. Cars come into stock that have been ordered and cancelled, meaning you can quite easily be bumped up the queue.Tesla are saying on their website if I order a Model Y today it should deliver in July. My Model 3 Performance took 47 days from order to collection earlier this year.

Just checked the quote Drive Electric sent to me on Tuesday rather than the website and they're quoting 4 - 6 weeks for an e-Up. More than the website but still not 12 months!
But what does 'quoting' mean? What happens if they don't deliver after 6 weeks? If time is of the essence to you, try to get a specific delivery date written into your agreement with them, which at least allows you to cancel if it's not met

If you like them, keep an eye on the Polestar website, pre-config section.
I bought a P2 on March 28th, confirmed delivery is April 28th. Just a month wait!
Yep, my preconfigured Polestar 2 took 23 days from order to handover. I was just on the website everyday until the spec I wanted popped up. I bought a P2 on March 28th, confirmed delivery is April 28th. Just a month wait!

Ordered a Range Rover last July, picking up at the end of this month. If I had stayed with the colour I initially wanted, I wouldn't see it until late August.
The good news, both my second hand cars made me loads of cash. Miles more than I paid for them.
Well that won’t happen this time. We were looking forward to getting a nice surprise on the depreciation of our 3yr old Range Rover Sport this month when we changed to a Q8. £30k down in 3 years and we had to work hard not to lose more. All I hear is tales of cars not losing money, but they’ve obv not got Rover in the name. The good news, both my second hand cars made me loads of cash. Miles more than I paid for them.
Visited Seat and Skoda today to see what their quotes were on their version of the UP and both don't sell them anymore! Its really annoying when you continually get lists of available EVs in magazines like autocar saying that small EVs like the Mi and Citigo are available when they're not.
Apart from the e-Up I don't think there is a small EV available now.
I tried mini but waited for 15 mins for a salesman and then gave up.
