Stolen and recovered auctions cars with VIN issues(cloned)

I've bit the bullet on a stolen rec car from auction. Sold by the insurance company.
It's a cloned car. Not received it yet but it appears that the vin in the windscreen has been cloned. So that needs replacing.. £35 for the vin sticker from merc.
I am just wondering, has anyone got any experience with this?
I hope that the cloned vin has not been stamped on the chassis. If it has, what's the process of getting the original vin stamped back on?
