Everyday watch up to £200 (don't mind if digital / smart)
Discussion
As per the title, I'm after an everyday watch, must be robust, preferably waterproof, and keep decent time without having to set it on a regular basis. I have a 25 yr old speedmaster that I use a lot, but clearly it's not robust and waterproof.
Any recommendations appreciated, I've tried a fit bit, can't get on with the fact I have to charge the damn thing every few days. The new watch needs to be low effort, wear and forget !

There’s a whole thread - https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
I’ll suggest a combat Casio and diver of some description.

For that budget and requirements definitely a solar atomic G Shock or Citizen of some description. Plenty of choice at that price.
I’d be tempted to hang on until June and have a look at the new solar Bluetooth G Shock “Casiooaks” that are due out then.

I very tempted by one of these myself…

Mosey on over to the sub £200 thread. Have a browse through the hundreds of watches on there, ask a few questions, you’ll get some sound advice and also notifications of which online and high street retailers are having sales. This is opinion rather than 'fact', however: I think that this is a difficult price point at which to buy a decent watch. It is mostly tat or the usual Japanese suspects. Of these really only Seiko are making proper watches and you have to be careful now as prises have risen enormously and you can easily spend £200 on a Seiko that is underwhelming. Can you even buy an SKX007/9 for this now? New pieces are relatively few and far between and I suspect, well over budget. You can occasionally buy a higher end Seiko diver for around £200, but the offers seem to £300+ now.
I would probably increase my budget and look to make a good used purchase. Only yesterday I saw a Hamilton chrono and an Oris diver around the £500 mark. The Oris particularly will last you a lifetime. Sometimes spending a little more can save a fortune.

My elder brother buys one of these every few years, it’s quite a smart looking thing. He’s not into watches at all but needs something robust and waterproof as he wears it in the surf. No complaints so far.

I bought one for work, with blue dial detail. It lasted for under six months by which time the bezel had falln off and the strap had started to fail. Then I wore a Soviet production Poljot chrono but the crystal was taking a beating and they have become quite valuable, so I switched to an old Oris which is indestructible and will work out cheaper than the Casios in 5yrs...
