Going through a drawer of stuff my late dad had, I found this manual wind Timex from I guess the late 70's . At first I thought it was quartz but after popping the back off found it was mechanical. I must say I really like it and after a quick wind it seems to be working properly. Not sure how my dad had it as its definitely not his style but I'm intrigued to find out more about it. Is it familiar to anyone on here?

On closer inspection it appears never to have been worn.

That's a cool watch, sorry you found it in these circumstances though.

Its likely British made and 25m water resistant. Definitely 70s as you say.

I think it’s known simply as a Timex diver.

Id probably get it a gentle service (because oil doesnt stay oily for ever, even on an unused watch) and replace the strap. It would be a shame to mar it be allowing an old placcy strap to suddenly split and fail.

I think this will have a pin and plate moment, they can be cleaned up but it’s basically a disposable item. I have a 50 year old one (not in a diver style case) it has run ok for me.

Pin lever movements can be serviced.
