I have a family member who uses cost of living as their excuse to be cheap and ask for things from family members. This person works for the transport authorities and has free public transport access. However, this person is 100% dependent on their car and has not used their entitlement once as far as I can tell - I kid you not. She even complained about the price of petrol. Is this a major first world problem?

Maybe public transport isn’t convenient for the trips she needs to make? However, she should realise that the cost of living rising affects everyone.

Unfortunately, this is not the case. She is very very lazy. She will also complain about people not being nice to her. She's been single for as long as I can tell and is a fervent fur baby mama.

Whats wrong with being single, or choosing what she prefers as a transport method?

You seem a bit of a wierdo.

Does she create threads to slag off family members on social media, or is she better than that?

Let's just say walking her dog is a bi-annual event.

Ain't nothing wrong with slagging on people who deserve it. Not that she has a chance of changing anyways.

She should join this site, I hardly ever take public transport and think petrol is too costly.

Have you got totally free public transport access? And this would actually save you a lot of time too!

My in laws moan about the cost of living amongst a lot of things. Fine, but they retired before 60, have a near 50k a year pension and live in a massive house in a prime spot in town. I constantly have to remind them that they have won the life lottery.

Just sounds like a lazy bellend.

Spend your time with people who more deserve it.

We've got a family member and his partner who are moaning about cost of living rises, and having to curtail their weekends away.

Won't be a problem for much longer though as they've been told that they'll be losing their Motability car and blue badge at the end of the year...after scamming the system for over 20 years by claiming higher rate disability/attendance allowances for each other on the basis that their medical conditions means they can't walk unaided for more than 10m...yet need the car for their regular walking weekends in Snowdonia and The Lakes.

No they're worried that they'll have to get a job...in their late 50s...when neither has ever worked a day in their lives.

I feel so sorry for them both rolleyes

Everyone is slightly different so what one person can put up with is different to another

My mum could drive across the world in a 20 year old fiesta if she had to, but if my dad said a couple of unkind words to her it would destroy her

My mother in law couldn’t drive the Basingstoke on the m3 but has put up with years of emotional abuse from her hubby

What seems like a big deal to me is trivial to others etc

That said, younguns have got it hard at the mo

Better than being a fervent crotch fruit factory though.

that conflates two phrases I loathe:
- Baby mama (seriously WHY?)
- fur baby (it's a fking PET! A member of the family for sure but still a pet)

I'm not familiar with the Basingstoke, but I wouldn't dare drive the Bradford on the M62, even though I'm regularly on Pistonheads.

It's a tough existence to imagine when most people marry the first person who looks at them and then remain married until death do us part, despite being nothing more than acquaintances at best or passive aggressive enemies at worst.
