Engine Light & MOT

All, the engine light comes on after a long trip on my 2002 BMW E46. After reset it doesn’t come on unless I do a long trip again. I know it needs sorting, but it’s not a major fault. Question is, will it fail an MOT with the light on? I read somewhere it only fails if it’s post 2003?

Up to 03 for petrols & 08 for diesels you can pass an MOT with the EML light on.
