Very appropriate as tonight I've just stuck 3 litres of fresh oil in my fryer ready to do some chicken.

Time to filter and reuse!

Well when the likes of Brakes etc are quoting £45 (+) for 20 litres, what do chefs do? Hit Asda.

It's because it's cheaper than diesel and some people have been putting it in their fuel tanks.

Just about every shortage or price hike is blamed on the Russia/Ukraine conflict.
Our hardware store has blamed the conflict for the hike in the price of lumber, even though it comes from Canada!

Yeah the fact that an estimated 80% of all sunflower oil coming from the Ukraine (46%) and Russia (34%) has nothing to do with the price hikes and shortages ...

Luckly I have 5 liters at home. Random Nectar offers come every thursday, if there is something I will use in the future and they give me 60 nectar points I buy it a store at home. Saved £1.80 on those alone.

About 10 years ago I used to regularly buy a shopping trolley's worth for my non PD Galaxy. Then I started using a centrifuge and waste oil. Went through 2 engines in 50k, but saved thousands. When the first one broke just bought another.

I've been cooking my chips in lard for the last 15 odd years they taste good. It does smell a bit but it doesn't worry me.

What kind of centrifuge did you use?

Looks cheap compared to one of my suppliers (albeit this is full list pre discount)

Couple of weeks ago I was on my knees in Tesco getting the last few bottles of oil from the back of the shelf for some elderly customers and a pregnant lass. Been fine since mind.

The owner of my local sawmill told me that the Russian mills process 560 million m3 of lumber a year. He never said how much of that is usually exported, but if it is now unavailable then it will drive up the prices elsewhere.

I've got about 40 metres plywood.
Best investment I've made in years

And what does that have to do with lumber exactly?

What does lumber have to do with a thread about oil?
