Is LPG still viable?
Discussion
I did search but the last active thread I found was from 2020.
Just looking at the Dacia Bifuel range and while LPG seems attractive from a cost perspective I can't seem to find any filing stations anywhere nearby that actually have any pumps full. Is this a temporary situation due to the Extinction Rebellion blockades on the depots for Cambridgeshire or is this the norm?

I considered the Dacia as well, but I read somewhere that Calor and Shell have fallen out, and thus the amount of pumps available will be decreasiing.
Dont know if thats true or not though.
LPG isnt the bargain it used to be , but is obvs way cheaper thaN Petrol, even though it offers less MPG.

Theres 3 apps that help you find who has it and hopefully in stock.
Filllpg , autogas.app and mylpg.
If you live near a few reliable places that sell it , than worth going for it.
It went through a bit of a drought for a few months, due to eveything going on. One of the big suppliers flowgas posted up they also suffered witha driver shortage.
Morrisions are trying to pull out supplying it at thier stations by 2024.
I bought a car that someone else converted last year , so use it as a bonus, one of my nearest Sainsbury's sell it at 62.9p L , even with getting 2/3 mpg less its well worth using it.

Nothing about LPG I am afraid but I would never consider a Dacia, I worked all my life in vehicle development and crash testing, having seen some of the tests from these vehicles they take us back to the 70’s in safety.
If your willing to accept these limitations, or dare I say dangers…..they are good value.

The 70's, like no ABS, no crumple zones, no traction control, no AEBS, no air bags.....? If your willing to accept these limitations, or dare I say dangers…..they are good value.
Did the Dacia LPG adaptor issues get resolved? I understood Dacia were delivering with the European style connector and the UK vehicles needed an adaptor. The adaptor was apparently not considered safe/compatible with some refuelling systems.

The Sandero did achieve four stars for the protection it offers adult and child occupants in an impact, along with a three-star rating for pedestrian impact protection. However, according to Euro NCAP rules, the car’s overall rating was dictated by its lowest score: two stars for active safety assist technology.

It’s not melodrama, it’s facts……they are just not up to contemporary crash standards.
They aren’t dangerous as such but in a serious impact I’d rather be in the other modern vehicle.
It was just to make the OP aware of one aspect, leaving it there.
But it's not "fact" though is it, nothing like a 70's car when it comes to safety! They aren’t dangerous as such but in a serious impact I’d rather be in the other modern vehicle.

So it’s not super safe but it’s hardly a death trap as was mentioned Boxbrownie said:

Utter rubbish. Unless you simply meant to say there are other vehicles available which score better? If they weren't up to contemporary crash standards then they wouldn't be for sale.

What part of 4-star adult and child occupant crash protection in a 2021 test is "not upto contemporary crash standards"?They aren’t dangerous as such but in a serious impact I’d rather be in the other modern vehicle.

More so now than in a very long time ,my local outlet currently .749 p per litre !
The shortage glitch for about 6 weeks until mid May seems to be over for the time being, hope that continues to be the case.More so now than in a very long time ,my local outlet currently .749 p per litre !
Note some outlets profiteered wildly if you checked the LPG filling station app during the shortage, mental notes made never to visit those filling sites for any reason other than to applaud as they go out of business.
I ordered my Stepway without Lpg which I am still not sure was the right thing to do. The reasons for this were as follows
1)There are hardly any stockists anywhere near me
2)The closest stockist doesn't allow adaptors
3)I barely so 5000 miles a year
4)Concerns about the system going wrong at a later date
5)I wanted a spare tire
But the pros are
1)It is a free option
2)Much cheaper to run on LPG
3)10bhp more on LPG

How do Dacia get more power out of LPG than petrol, is the engine in a different state of tune when running on LPG only?
There's not a great deal in it but there was always a slight power drop running on LPG compared to petrol.
Or has this changed with the new E10 petrol? something i confess no experience of and won't be using in my current cars, but anecdotally a number of people have said it doesn't provide the power of the old petrol and doesn't give as good economy, though the two alleged results go hand in hand.
