SLK 350 Engine Fan Running Constantly
Discussion
Hopefully PH can help with this problem. I have an SLK350 (2008, M272 engine) where the main engine cooling fan runs at almost full speed all the time. It turns on after about 10 seconds after ignition and then switches off after about 1 minute when I power down. I have searched YouTube which has helped narrow down my search. Scanned the car with Wurth WOW and have run diagnostics on 2 likely areas:
Engine temperature sensor
Refrigerant pressure sensor
Refrigerant pressure sensor shows static 5.5 bar rising to c7.5 bar under load with aircon fully operational so, for now, I have ruled this out.
When I review the data for the the engine temp sensor I get some odd readings shown in the attached file. Although the engine temperature reads OK in the MFD in the dashboard, the coolant target temperature spikes from 80c to 100c and the duty cycle for the fan bounces all over the place. The coolant temp sensor hardly changes. Am I correct to assume it's FUBAR?
