I wonder what’s it going to be.
Who needs a kitchen anyway when you cant cook.
Well I’m itching to say hello to the gang, new boy in South Yorkshire here. Been reading the forum and the VXR videos just make me smile.
It was going to be a BMW, but after a huge amount of deliberation, I couldn’t face driving anything called a clit. This Monaro appeared to me in a dream, that’s my only explanation and Pentagon in Derby were happy to take my order. Waiting now to take delivery, unfortunately its delayed due to a gearbox oil leak and a lack of parts, hopefully this coming Tuesday will be the day. Pentagon have promised me a full tank of petrol as a consolation, a deal or what?
So guys, what’s next? Guess brakes are first on the list eh! Then I’m open to suggestions, somehow I don’t think 400 bhp is going to be enough. Have had a shot in the 5.7 they had as a demonstrator but not driven this one yet, actually didn’t drive that one either, too much traffic. Am wondering if this is going to be a practical choice for everyday use but still have my 2.2 SRI to get me to Tesco’s.
Looking forward to some get-to-geather’s and possibly some coaching in the near future.

Welcome to the Aussie tyre shredding club! Enjoy it mate, they are a great peice of kit, noisier & less refined than a Bimmer but much bigger cred factor & way more fun to drive, esp once over 400 neddies and allowed to breath. Go the brakes 4 sure & then as far as power goes.. how bigs yr wallet?????
Enjoy & look forward to meeting you.

G'Day,
Great to see so many enjoying this type of car.
You get a real bargain price wise compared to the Aussies which pisses us of. We build them and then sell the in the UK for a discount?
Anyway, Cat back exhausts, Extractors and opened up Cat pipes, Modified CAI, Edit / Tune in that order.
Equals, 400ish FWHP. Cost, $3000 Aust.
Pretty good bang for your bucks we feel.
Love to compare the mods you fellas are doing to ours.
Cheers,
Hogs.

hogs,
You might be getting the UK mixed up with the USA. The UK, I will quote the RRP out of EVO magazine here, pay 29,895 pounds for the equivalent CV8 and 35,595 pounds for the VXR (HSV GTO). I will let you do the converting! I think you will find the UK pay a small amount more than OZ for the cars. The US get their GTO's cheaper than OZ.

Hi Shadok, Going for the brakes first is imo a good move, I'd do the exhaust next, then Supercharge it.
Saves money in the long run, as you will spend plenty to get over 400bhp so you might as well spend a bit more in the first place & get over 500bhp. I am obviously biased though.
After 3 years, I'm still not bored of the performance, used to it yes, but not bored.
Insurance isn't an issue & mpg as good if not better.
Enjoy your car, modded or not, they are great fun. BMW's seem very sterile in comparison.

Guess I’ll be asking a few questions also. Will post some pictures when I finally get it. Yes brakes and exhaust first then we’ll see. How do Vauxhall feel about mods on a new vehicle? Guess I’m going to have to let them maintain it for the first 3 years for the warrantee. Pentagon are supposed to have one guy trained up un the VXR. Do you all think that’s the best way to go, get them to do it for 3 years then look for a real specialist, can’t see me getting rid, specially once I start putting money into it. Cant make the 28th unfortunately work calls and all that, next time i’m off for something I will see you all there?
Seeing as you're in S.Yorks, might not be relevant, but specialists such as Linden SV (who have serviced/tuned HSV's since the late 90's & imported Monaro's prior to Vauxhall), can service your car using genuine parts & not affect your warranty. Linden have had Vauxhall confirm this.
Whoever does the servicing must comply with the correct schedule etc. & of course the mileage requirements must be met.

Think im going to ask WRC Tech to look after mine.
If need be take it to Vauxhall for the warranty stuff.
Would be curious how you find their servicing.
Am not impressed with Barnsley's Vauxhall dealer, seems when i take my Vectra there they would rather not be bothered.
Been reading back through the forum, intresting, can't wait now and cant remember being this excited bout a vehicle before, must be an age thing, 3 days to go and counting. Just bought the VXR reg as well.
