Somehow managed to break the stepper motor, having cleaned it several times previously over my 3 years of ownership it snapped when gently tightening, leaving the threaded bit in the housing. I'm sure some of you have also experienced this, any ideas on removal, thought I'd ask before attempting.
Thanks, John.

Yes that happened to me several years ago. I found that the threaded part was easy to turn since the flange was no longer there to grip on the housing, I wound electricians tape around a short length of wooden dowel, just enough to sit in to hole, I could then spin it out by hand

A piece of sheet steel cut into a taper should unscrew it when jambed in. (or a triagular paint scraper) or tap the broken piece around with a small chisel. If needed you can remove the whole mounting and take it to the bench.

It's out - wedged a 1/2" chisel into it and it turned out easily, about 1/8 of a turn at a time, until I could get hold of it.
Interesting that the new fracture is less than 25% of the circumference, its been waiting to finally break for quite a while.

OK, the new one's in and the engine is running. Been for a drive to settle it down and it is running rich. I'm assuming this is because the old stepper motor wasn't working properly. Is this tuneable by me or does it need expert intervention? My local garage owner has the cable etc to put it on his diagnostics, I'm thinking this might be a good start.
