I’m looking for a watch that I can wear when I’m travelling that’s smart and classic but can as easily be worn on the beach as it can be in a meeting with a suit.

My criteria are:

Bracelet which is more satin than polished
Suitable for swimming (100m resistance I guess)
40mm ish case
Automatic
Date
Doesn’t have to be new
Probably not a chronograph
Not a dive watch
Not a black face

I don’t care what brand it is and My budget is circa £500. Happy to go way lower than that but I don’t want to go much above it though.

I thought I’d found the one with the tissot prx but the full polished case and strap put me off.

Thinking that something from seiko might fit the bill (I already have an orange monster) but I haven’t seen anything that floats my boat.

Can anyone suggest anything please?

Halios would be worth a look, might be slightly above budget shipped but the Universa for example might be suitable.

The PRX isn’t full polished either. The links are brushed and the case face is too.

It's a little over your budget and 38mm but I missed the fact you said about not wanting a black face, still think its worth a look though

V fashionable style (integrated bracelet) currently, or a little more expensive. Searching is half the fun smile

Seiko spb155j1 new from Japan? Bracelet is not polished, case is. It has an open case-back as well.

Just to close this out I've picked up a Seiko Presage Sharp edged with the blue dial.

List price is a fair bit above what I originally planned but I managed to get a great deal so stretched the budget slightly.

Thanks again for all the suggestions.

The golf club receptionist asked my advice and I said that, without doubt, the watch that will see you through life would be a Seiko Presage. Smart, chic, waterproof and solid as a rock. It was a present for her husband's 40th birthday and a budget of £500. She He chose a white face, roman numerals and a bracelet. It wears well as smart and casual.

If it's not too late!
Have a look at the Wolbrook watch website,i have two.
They are superb quality for the money and have good options to fit your criteria.
They make a great everyday watch that is different from the predictable and very tastefull.
They are assembled in France and utilise a bought in Japanese Automatic movement.
I use mine for holidays and everyday work watch.
My absoloute favourite is the Dual tone Skindiver Automatic in grey,i wear mine with a NATO from watch Gecko ,but they offer a beads of rice option that has great reviews.

You really need one these. It’s the only acceptable choice. A little over budget but worth stretching for.
