I've recently fitted a new clutch to my Chimaera and the gearshift gaitor doesn't seem to wish to stay where it should , is there a knack to fixing it in place properly or is it just me ?!!!

Shove it in with the back of a fork! I think there should be some wire somewhere too?

Haven't noticed any wire on mine, but that might be the normal TVR variability. If you can't get it to lie in place with the aid of a fork, you could always try loosening the console to give you more room to play with. It's just held on with a self tapper either side at the front and a couple of long self tappers under the pull-out panel at the back of the console. It may not lift off completely until you mince around with the door knob, but nonetheless removing the four screws I've mentioned should at the very least let you lift the front section up enough to sort out the gaitor. Dead easy to line things up and put them back in place afterwards.

I've had my centre console out and the gearshift gaitor stayed there. It's not fixed to the console at all. If you mean the gaitor had been pulled through the console opening, and you're trying to get it back then it should be easy enough to just poke in the aperture, then rotate it until it feels comfortable.

I don't think the front of the console comes up much without the rear because it has to slide reawards to remove.

Hope this helps.
