Car is new in March, under 1,000 miles. Took it tonight and sounded like an odd noise when braking. This is what it sounds like stationary with the engine off when the brake pedal is pressed

Any ideas? It should be quiet, and always has been. Reckon it's safe to drive to a dealer? Brake fluid is full and uncontaminated, well, what was in the reservoir. Braking performance was as expected. Connected to it's re-gen capability?

Help!

I'm not famiilar with that car and haven't heard a noise like that, but my guess would be that the ABS pump is running for some reason. If the pedal still felt OK and the braking was not affected and there were no warning lights, I'm be comfortable driving that a few miles to get to a garage. A great deal of effort goes into making these systems fail safe and to give lots of warnings before failing. I'd be extra cautious about avoiding situations where emergency braking might be required though, just be be on the safe side.

Thanks for the reply. Even with the ignition off the abs would still engage you think?

It sounds like a cable is pulling at something with resistance - only way I can describe the noise.

No warning lights, seemingly no lose of fluid, pedal still feels firm and performance is not affected. Bizarre! I've had squeeky pedals and master cylinders but this is a new one on me too.

I also don't know that car but is it possible that the brake servo is not supplied with vac from the engine but from a vac pump of some sorts, if so that is what you are hearing.

As above, you should be OK to drive it to the dealer if the pedal feels good, just take it easy, if you aren't confident have them recover it.

That's a good shout - thanks. I didn't think about it not running off the engine. I'll call dealer when they open and send the video see what they think.
