Good morning all,

Thought I’d start a new thread for my new car as I always like to do. Having sold my special 981 GT4, below, I went on the hunt for the next car. I’d always said when I was young, that I wanted to own a supercar by the time I’m 30. Still in disbelief to be quite honest that I’m in that position now, a crazy couple of years but I’m trying to make the most of it.

Did well on the GT4 and what a car it was, would have another in a heartbeat. Did 7,000 miles in it in 10 months and it was faultless.

Now, onto the new car. The reason for the inverted commas on the word Supercar, is that McLaren class this as a “sports series” car… and normally any owner of a “super series” car claims they have a bigger Willy and don’t call these Supercars. Tbh, I think it’s a load of rubbish. It’s mid engined, does over 200mph, and the doors go up 😂 to me, it’s a supercar.

I wanted to find one that was bright, and there’s was a few specific options I wanted, as well as certain wheel options etc. Stumbled across the perfect spec to me, private sale, and benefitting from a full 12 month McLaren warranty and full McLaren service history.

2016
12k Miles
Ventura Orange
Lightweight wheels
Black leather, heated with memory, orange stitching, orange seatbelts
Soft close doors
Front and rear sensors with camera
Front lift (needed for where I am)
Bowers and Wilkins stereo (very good)
Carbon exterior pack 1
Sports exhaust with stealth finisher
amongst some other bits…

When I picked it up!

Managed to get very lucky with a private plate, CC is my initials.

Snakes pass the first weekend:

So that’s that, 2 weeks of ownership, hasn’t put a foot wrong and have used it nearly every day. The car feels absolutely ballistic to drive, and blows my mind that technically it’s the slowest McLaren in the range! Feels very similar in feel to the GT4 albeit with a lot more power, and a lot more “special”. Yes I was initially worried about the McLaren horror stories of reliability, but tbh, life’s too short, just do it. It has warranty. If it goes wrong, give it them back. For now, just want to enjoy it as much as possible.

Thanks!

First things first, that Porsche is in a stunning spec!

I love threads like this, with people running cars and sharing the experience.

Honestly can't comprehend anyone putting the 570s down. I've been in one and it's all the car you'd ever need for the road, can't imagine thinking at any point "ooh... this could do with some more power"

Love the colour, spec seems perfect, congrats - keep us updated.

Stunning car! Am a massive fan of these, especially in that colour.

And it's definitely a supercar, enjoy!

Lovely. I’m seriously considering one to replace my Evora so I’ll be interested to hear how you get on.

Having had my mind comprehensively blown in a 720S at the weekend, you have no idea how much I want something like this.

Please stop saying it's good, I need it to depreciate.

Lovely car.

Never used pistonheads before but I was the person at the co-op earlier on today commenting on your car. I found this post on accident as I was curious and thought your reg was unique and put it into google and found this. Just wanted to say it made my day to see and hear your car, that v8 sounds mega.

Wow both stunning cars in specs I’d go for myself! Much better than the sea of greys especially on special stuff like these, good job that man!

Couldn't agree more! I went to view a grey 570S and yes it was lovely, but when I saw the orange, it was no contest!

Little update, I can't stop driving this thing!! Nearly 2k miles added in 5 weeks, no problems, just amazing.

6th Year service booked for next month, yay.

Also picked up a new set of tyres so I can get rid of the Trofeo R's. Michelin PS4S. My favourite all rounder.

Also removed the front plate again, just looks so much better without.

And on to a larger update. My normal daily is something that me and the Mrs share, New A5 Coupe, but her business is becoming busier and busier which means more often than not, I am forced to use the Mclaren (1st world problems I know), but I dont want it to become less special from me using it more and more. A new daily for myself was in order. I definitely wasn't planning on the car below, but, I was offered it very generously priced by a close friend. I couldn't say no after a drive.

Unfortunately not Frozen Black, but, Full Satin PPF, I do like it as its different. Original colour is Black.
Spec is fantastic for what I want, Heated/Cooled Seats, Massage Seats, Heated Wheel, Soft Close Doors, HK, Heads up, M Performance Exhaust etc etc

It also has a few modifications, lots of carbon everywhere, kidney grilles, splitter, diffuser, mirrors. Competition Wheels with PS4S's.
Eventuri Intakes (cant believe the cost of these!), Evolve Downpipes, Evolve Stage 2 Map with 770bhp.

Pick it up later today! Cant wait!!
