Hello.

The tyres on my BMW 430D (2016) are in need of replacement. They currently are Bridgestone Potenza S001 run flats. I am considering either keeping the same or switching to non run flats, possibly Michelin Pilot Sport 4.

Please can I have any feedback or recommendations as to whether to stick with the Bridgestone run flats or go for the Michelin non run flats instead? Any information or experiences would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Whatever you choose to do don't put another set of those bridgestone S001 on they are awful IMO, if you want a RFT again then the Pirelli PZ4 are good I have them on my 7 series and I just swapped out a set of the S001 for PS3 RFT on the Z4.

I have 18” Goodyear EfficientGrip runflats (225/45 front, 255/40 rear) on my F30 335d. Reasonably quiet and comfortable for a run flat, but we have decent roads here.

Used Michelin PS4 on my F31 330 for 4 years, no complaints - much quieter than the stock RFTs and ride improved.

Mine are 19" staggered setup, but even compared to 18" RFT, the ride is much more compliant. I use 18" Pirelli Soto on my winters and it is definitely worse than the summer setup.

Obvious disadvantages come from having no spare. I carry two cans of tyreweld and a compressor in the boot in case I get really stuck in the middle of nowhere.

I have Pirelli run flats on my 428i and they’re a little noisy and the ride could be better, it’s just weighing up going for non RFT tyres and taking a chance on getting a puncture.

Very happy with Pirelli PZero RFTs!

Should add that I have SE suspension and 18" wheels (245/50/18) which I think softens the ride enough to be called comfortable.
