What car would you get? 50-65k - Silly - Viper/Corvette

Ok so this isn't a Daily Driver, I want something that has a sense of occasion when driving it, car shows and sunny afternoons.

I also want something that is going to be reasonable to run and maintain, and hopefully hold or even increase in value, will be very limited milage and garaged.

I 6'6 so many of the smaller cars out there are out of the equation, and I love the silliness of a large big block v10 or v8.

I also don’t fancy anything German as they are a little common and sensible for a fun car, and things like Lotus I just wont fit in.

Open to other suggestions of course, Other cars I have considered and discounted are Jag XKR-S, TVR Sagaris, GTR, AMG GT.

I had a Matchbox toy Viper when I was a kid, in the correct blue with white stripes combo.

I will buy one in my lifetime.

Nah, I want something that feels special, and another 4x4 aint that, wicked thing, but I want an excuse to leave the kids and dog at home

Oh and I am 6ft 5 and not small, so you should be able to fit fine.

I just bought an F-Type R coupe at the bottom end of your budget, and I am 6'5".

The panoramic roof option has liberated a couple of inches headroom and I fit... just!

So far it ticks the silly noise making box nicely!

I must confess, seeing other people driving them doesn't put me off. The concern I'd have with the Viper and the 'Vette is mainly handling related - they both seem excellent at sending you backwards into the scenery. This comes from a former early 930 owner

The Vette you linked to looks like the very definition of silly. It looks superbly silly. That would be my vote as I think it would be silly fun without the hassle of a much older car.

I would find the best TVR Tuscan you can. MK1 S' are around £40K-£50K and this would make the dodge or corvette feel like going to church in slippers. I'm 6" 6 and fit.
Plus the steering wheel is on the correct side, and the roof comes off ;-)

The Vette will dynamically be the better car. But the Viper is a classic. Can't see you loosing money on one either.

The Vette will hold money ok too in the near term, but will drop in value the longer you keep it. Just look at C5 and C6 prices now.

TVR probably not a bad shout for similar thrills, although with the Viper/Vette it'll likely be a no hassle ownership experience. The TVR much less likely.

I'm a fan of the Viper in general, but that specific car seems really expensive for a 17 year old car that was sold in reasonable numbers and at reasonable prices when new.
