ANYONE FOR SANTA POD 1/4 MILE ON AUG 21ST??????
Discussion
As per thread title, does anyone who is or is not coming on the tuscaneers week-end, want to light up their TVR's rear wheels on the sunday at santa pod and see if we can put various customised scoobies / evos / various yank mobiles and the like to shame!!!!!!
Simon
ps has anyone been before and got a reasonable time - the traction off the line at thorney island in july was pretty shocking, but I have heard santa pod is better ????????

I've been to the POD but not raced my Tuscan neither will I ever do so. I've seen castle TVR and others with TUSCAN Racers find it very difficult to get the power down and thus get pretty average times compared to the Jap modified scene.
Also keeping the car warm between runs can be an issue if you stop. It's not too nice on the clutch either. I rather go and watch others. Maybe I'm just getting older and boring. Whatever you'll have a great day!

Marcus,
There was a heavily modded beatle at thorney island which was getting into the low 11's - god knows what engine it had in it!!! Not yours I guess!!!!!
BTW I did manage 13.3s on my second run out of 3. I think the tuscan is supposed 12.8. Anyway, roll on SantA pOD.
Hope to see you guys there.............

There are a couple of full steel street beetles with turbo motors in the 10s now. Makes you think.
I may have a go, the key is getting the power balance just right and hitting the green light. A good burn out will get the tyres good and hot, but more importantly get the engine warm. Just use your change lights ansd have a go.
Remember there are steel barriers down both sides and these don't take any prisioners !

Some tips for an enjoyable day
1.) you don't have to nail it off the startline.
2.) you don't need to do a burnout, it will probably make no difference if you do anyway..
3.) If you wait for the green light, you've gone too late.. wait for the last amber, but don't go before it!
4.) There is an amber light just past the finish line in each lane at santa pod to tell you which lane won the race..
5.) I'm not sure whether helmets are mandatory at the moment, if you have one, take it.
6.) Wear a long sleeved top, and don't wear shorts.
Find a quiet road before you go and practice holding the car at your chosen launch revs, it'd be a shame to waste runs with practising your thottle technique.
Feel free to drop me a line if you've got any questions..
have a good day folks..
