We've undone all of the brackets holding the fuel tank into the boot and boyfriend has managed to get the filler pipe (with a little help from a hammer) through the hole, but now it won't move more than a few inches. I can pull the left side forwards, but as soon as I move the right, the left slides back into place and, as his suggestion is tie a rope around it and pull it out with my car, I thought I'd better ask the internet.

Anyone got any suggestions other than an angle grinder? Thanks.

I don't know the answer but I do know not to take the angle grinder option anywhere near the tank! Good luck, some stupid invisible bracket will be snagging it somewhere smile

I'm hoping it is an invisible bracket we haven't spotted somewhere, unfortunately as we've been stripping it it's become apparent that the "modifications" done by the previous owner were very much a bodge job. I've never seen so much silicone sealant inside a car, hopefully he didn't glue the tank in or something stupid!
