I've been following the Scottish ferry fiasco and the price is now apparently pretty well £250,000,000, about £125,000,000 each.

Just wondering, but if I had that much money what sort of ferry, a flashy yacht or a warship could I buy?

Fill yer boots: https://www.fraseryachts.com/en/yachts-for-sale/.

The Illusion Plus seems to be a bit of a bargain.

For 250m you could go to Oceanco or similar and have something in the 100-110m range completely custom designed to your specifications, built, fitted out and delivered.

It'll cost you about 10%of that to run it for a year.

You could buy upwards of a dozen ferries like Pentalina, more if you have them built in a low cost location like Vietnam.

Was on the Isle of Man ferry Mannanan at the weekend.

Was impressed to find it can travel 1500 miles at 40mph and reach nearly 60mph flat out. It cost them £20m second hand after active service with the US!

He's right: https://www.niferry.co.uk/hsc-manannan/ Looks good. Designed as a ferry not a military craft.
