I need a good quality watch box that can hold 8 watches. Nothing too expensive, no winders or anything, just a nice box to go on a bedside table.

I've seen loads on Amazon that look fairly cheaply made, so looking for something maybe a little bit better quality.

What would you recommend?

P.S. Preferably modern looking, but not fake carbon fibre etc.

Wolf make some reasonably priced boxes. I've got one with a cufflink draw too.

Also Rapport have some good stuff.

I’ve got a Rapport box - it’s nice. But the prices have really shot up since I bought it so not sure I’d recommend them at their current RRP.

That being said, I’m always slightly surprised that people use watch boxes and other display boxes. Mine live in the safe in individual pouches; while they’re all insured I’d rather not have the hassle if we were broken into. Surely hidden away somewhere is preferable, rather than on show?

I don't have anything massively valuable, and live in a fairly low crime small town, so no issues here. I buy them to wear them, not as investments.

Those Rapport boxes are really nice, expensive mind.

Everything I see is either really expensive, or really cheap (looking).

The Wolf ones seem to be a nice middle ground.

I bought this 10 watcher. Finish is fine for the price paid and the bonus is it will take modern sized watches.

Magnetic closure. Best not to put one of your automatics in the adjacent slot.

Hmmmm... I've always known about magnetism affecting watches but it never occurred to me on the watchbox! Thanks for giving me another area for concern.

I have to admit though, the other autos I have are also stored in boxes with magnetic closure, some for over 10yrs and I've not noticed any major deviations in time keeping (timegrapher checked). Maybe the magnet is on the strap side and got enough distance to the case of the watch to not affect the movement?

I've got one of those too. The magnet is small, and not very close to any of the movements in the box.

Test your automatics with a small compass. I bet you they are magnetised. That is not to say that it is your watch box to blame, though. Magnets are everywhere nowadays and their affects are cumulative. But putting a magnetic closure on a watch box is not the brightest idea.
