Company flat rental - allowable expenses?

I’m an IT contractor and will be renting a flat in London because it’s cheaper than the hotels (now the prices have gone up).

If I rent a place then what sort of things can be legitimately expensed?

For example, the flat won’t have a TV. Can I legitimately buy one for the flat for entertainment purposes?
It’s not used for business purposes, but I’m away from home because of the work I’m doing. I can’t find a clear answer anywhere.

I think it boils down to whether it's "wholly and exclusively" for business purposes. I wouldn't have thought a TV would fall into that category, unless it is used on business premises.

I’d agree with that. I suppose I’m thinking along the lines that I’m having to buy a tv because I’m working away. (Who doesn’t have a tv, right?)

Don’t buy it for entertainment purposes, you ‘require it for presentations and connecting your laptop to when not in an office’

Who needs a TV at all these days?

It's much harder to justify a business related reason for buying a domestically located TV than, say, ten years ago.

Definitely this. Buying a TV to catch up on Love Island = not allowed. Providing a large-screen monitor to enable working from home = perfectly OK.
