Fall alarm recommendation

Father in law is 92, still lives at home on his own.
He has become prone to dizzy spells, Is taking meds for vertigo.
We are wanting him to have a fall alarm, to be used in the house. Needs to be using the landline, needs to be very simple, needs to be able to speak to it, if he falls down upstairs.
Any suggestions?

Try to find out if your local authority has a scheme you can sign your FIL up to.

It will normally come with staff to back it up; a control office to answer, staff trained to "lift" him safely without hurting him or themselves. Even with best intentions it's easy to do and neither you or your wife will be much use injured or with a knackered back.
Means you don't need to worry about having a glass of wine or two with dinner, going away for a few days etc.

You will probably find the biggest issue is getting him to wear it all the time...

You can now get ones that you wear on your wrist and automatically detect a fall. Sorry, can't remember any names.

Yes one that detects fall and someone contacts to see if he is ok is what is needed.
Sadly local authority and his doctors are so far beyond useless it’s unbelievable!
We need to sort something out for him without using them!

I got my mum a careline alarm that worked well when it was needed. It now looks like they do a fall detecting version.

A quick search gave me this. It's quite good in that it tells you how they work and then lists 6 good ones.

We used lifeline 24, not the fall alarm bit, but the button.

Easy to set up and worked really well, with a loud 2 way speaker.

We used the “NRS Healthcare Family and Friends Auto Dialling Panic Alarm” for my grandmother. No subscription fee and worked fine.
