That call from Rolex
Discussion
So got the call yesterday that one of the watches I've got on order is available for me, the 40mm Ever-rose Yachtmaster on the Oysterflex. I only went in to order a datejust for my wife's 40th a few months back and ended up putting my name down for 3 watches for myself lol. What's the market like on these at the moment, I'm not buying it to flip it but also keen that it's not going to drop like a stone.
Pre owned Rolex market is tanking, a serious case of mean reversion underway by the look of it.
PM Rolexes were readily offered with no wait time and a discount, until the pandemic.
If I was you I'd only be buying it if prepared to lose 50%. Not saying it would lose 50%, but if you can't stomach the possibility of a 50% drop then avoid.

I think tanking might be a little bit dramatic… longer term yes a correction is due but I wouldn’t say anyones watches have tanked as of yet…PM Rolexes were readily offered with no wait time and a discount, until the pandemic.

If the stock market dropped 20-30% I'd say it has tanked, and we've certainly seen drops in that range for some of the "hot" pieces.....SDarks said:
Lovely watch congrats.
Currently they are selling above RRP but not that long ago they were about £4k under and they were slower to pick up than the SS models when the market boomed.
if you can't stomach a 20% loss if things go t*ts up then proceed with caution.
Agree. These were in the shop window up until early last year and then selling for below rrpCurrently they are selling above RRP but not that long ago they were about £4k under and they were slower to pick up than the SS models when the market boomed.

The grey market is definitely tanking and I suspect these kinds of watches that only recently became in demand will be very much affected.
I wouldn't buy this watch if resale value is important

Steel Panda Daytona down approx 20% here.
The watch is up about what 3-400% over rrp - I’d hardly say 20% down was tanking. Still a long way to go.Sy1441 said:

Market is great, it's been great since the lockdown. Will it drop like a stone from RRP? Eventually as it's ever-rose and they always used to fall out of bed. The question is when.
On the plus side, it is an amazing watch.
