Main dealer - car cannot be sold to me after deposit

I expect this is is a one-sided argument, but I want to see if I have reason to be a bit miffed.
I found a car at a German brand main dealer around 400 miles from me, I was happy with the video, photos etc provided and provided a deposit to secure the car. The car was up for sale for around 1 day before I secured it.
It was due to be delivered to me tomorrow (13th May), I secured it last Sunday 1st May.
Tuesday just gone (10th) I got an email to say that the car had failed it's AUC checks as it had been discovered that the car had previously had a remap. I asked when I purchased the car over email for confirmation the car had no mods previously which the salesperson confirmed.
The dealer were aware of the failed AUC check last week but neglected to inform me as the salesperson was on annual leave last week. I have already sold the car I was using, so now I am left with no car. In hindsight of course this was a mistake.
Not really sure why I'm posting this other than being annoyed and not being able to do anything about it. Any thoughts and whether anyone has been through something similar?

I was very interested in a used Skoda. I quibbled scratches on paint. Salesman went from warm to cold and gave me an ultimatum I.e. walk. It went back on sale the same day for 3k more.
That was their end game. I was told by someone else at their dealership that head office had ordered all used vehicles to be marked up to take advantage of demand over supply.

I was very interested in a used Skoda. I quibbled scratches on paint. Salesman went from warm to cold and gave me an ultimatum I.e. walk. It went back on sale the same day for 3k more.
That was their end game. I was told by someone else at their dealership that head office had ordered all used vehicles to be marked up to take advantage of demand over supply.

Sold approved used, was remapped prior to purchase (proof found online), engine blew up, they are refusing to pay.
I have remapped cars before and wouldn't worry me doing it myself but I would research the best place first and you will have no idea where that was done and whether it's any good.

Because they don't need to supply it as "Approved Used" and meet the same manufacturer criteriaIf you want it that bad, buy it from there, knowing that whatever protections and fancy bells and whistles the AUC scheme offers you aren't available
