Went to change the broken bonnet cable yesterday on my 2005 118d and noticed the above device plugged in. Couldn't work out what it was or if parts were missing.

I have HIDs on the car (the car came with them) and there are error codes requiring a module to fix CCID errors. Not sure this is related to that.

So, what is it?

This question must come up every month - it's an old gypsy trick.

Thank you. Went to fit the bonnet latch on and found this dangling on the right side. The photo is abysmal but there's 2 switches both with "On" and numbered 1 and 2.

Was too afraid of disconnecting it as there is no cover on it.

Hopefully, if you get a picture of the otherside, someone may be able to tell you who supplied it and whether it's safe to leave in.

The two switches are probably for different levels of additional power and therefore loading on the engine.

If you take a picture of where it's plugged in it should be obvious how to remove it if that's what you want.

Will impact the insurance, though the car might feel slow if you're now used to the extra power.
