Hi guys ~ perils of living in London has meant some plonker has reversed into my 911 and cracked the bumper……in particular a fin part of the bumper.

I have had conflicting opinions from different bodyshops as to whether it is repairable and if it would be strong enough.

I had attached a couple of pictures - what are people’s thoughts ? Also if it is repairable, a rough estimate on what this should cost would be great….

Most plastic bumpers can be welded..... there's various methods....but not all.
I've never done one of those but if it's one that can then I can't see why it would be a problem.
I'd use staples on the back so bumper would need removing.
Pointless giving you a price as there's such a regional variation.
Btw bodyshops can usually give you more accurate info than randoms on an internet forum who have never done bodywork but have watched a couple of YouTube videos biggrin

I repairs something similar on my last car, glued back together, a little specialist filler and sanded then painted.

When I part ex'd at a Ford dealer for my wife's new car no one noticed it.

Take your time and it's fairly easy

easy repair for a good bodyshop , some of the modern plastic glues are very strong , plus you can use hot staples as well if need be

unsure what you would pay these days - prob have Porsche tax added too

Thanks guys - very helpful info. Does anyone have any good recommendations for Bodyshops in north or west London?

Thanks

It used to be part of my job to arrange repairs to sales cars.

I found with bodyshops it's a good idea to tell them you're expectations.

Price will differ between them just doing the corner (Fade it half way along the bumper) could look ok to most people's eyes.

Or removing the bumper to do it, and then taking the time to flat/polish afterwards to get a nice finish.

A bit further out but I’ve recently discovered Daytona Coachworks in Stevenage. They’ve recently done a bit of work on my 997.2 Turbo and the quality was fantastic. They’re based next door to the excellent Porschacare and they predominantly work on Porsches - therefore a fussy group of customers who demand high quality. Their pricing is great. I highly recommend them.

Search up Wheeler dealers
Ed did a repair of a bmw 840 or 840 original one front bumper that was cracked, he used a hot staple repair i think
Looked to be a decent method
